Once again, please be warned, this post is about makeup. And yes, probably every one of my ‘Unboxing’ posts will be about makeup/skin & hair care etc. Unless I do a feature on my Mr’s Lootcrate. We’ll see. In any case, as promised, here’s my first Glossybox from September.
It arrived quite quickly, within a few days from when we ordered it and it came safely double boxed.
Once I opened the black box it revealed a very sleek looking red one. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s got any special features like the Birchbox stackable drawer style boxes, but it looks very nice and it’s very sturdy so I’ll probably save it for yule present wrapping or something. Yes, I know I have some issues with getting rid of things but I have an actual purpose for this box so it doesn’t count as hoarding!
When I opened the red box it was all nicely tied with a ribbon and it was all on this nice bed of gift wrapping crinkly tissue paper stuff. I’ve no idea what it’s called but it made it feel like it was an actual present. Then it had some information pieces, a voucher code for an online clothes shop and a list of what’s in the box and some tips on how to use the items. It also included a nice welcome note. Apparently they’re thrilled to have me. Yay!
In my box I had a Super Hydrating face mask, Mega Soft lip balm, Smoother than Anything eye pencil, Awesome as Fudge mascara, Haven’t Opened It Yet nail polish top coat and a sample of another face mask. Well, that’s what they should be called anyway.
I have to say it was absolutely worth it. The Rodial Smokey Eye Pen is the absolute best eye pencil I’ve ever tried. It glides on so smoothly without catching at all. I’m a complete beginner when it comes to eyeliners and even I found it really easy to apply.
The Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Lip Balm leaves my lips very soft and hydrated. I’m not too sure how ‘antioxidant’ it is, but it does everything I’d expect a good lip balm to do. Just one thing I’m not convinced about is the slight graininess it has when first applied. I don’t know why it does that in the beginning, but it sort of melts away once it’s heated up a little on my lips.
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara is actually amazing. I only got a small tester tub of it, but I’m really considering buying a full size one. You know, once I’m rich. It fully separated my lashes whilst thickening and lengthening. There was no clumping, just ‘a bit too good to look natural’ natural looking lashes.
Revlon Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat nail polish. Now, I haven’t actually tried this one yet, but I’ve had some Revlon products before and they’ve been really good so I’ve got high hopes for it.
As for the Hydro Face Mask, I’m also waiting for the right moment to use it. I’ll probably do it some time next week. But it’s one of those full face masks that you slap on and then look like a mummy for a while and then you get to take it off and your face is like a baby’s butt for a week.
I tried The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal face mask sample and I loved the smell of it and how funny it looked when on. Also loved the results – it actually did leave my face squeaky clean and even took care of some of the tougher bits.
Overall I’m very pleased with this box and the amount of full size items it had. I’m also discovering so many new brands and products, it’s great!
