Looking Fantastic in September

Yes, you guessed it – my September Lookfantastic Beauty box has arrived and I can’t wait to share it with you!

This month they’re inviting all of their subscribers to celebrate their 3rd birthday with this gorgeous Birthday Edit. And celebrate I will – the items in it are some of the best I’ve seen from Lookfantastic yet! Plus, the box itself is sooooooo pretty – all starry. You’d think I’d be used to it by now but very month I’m amazed how beautiful their box designs are.

Hikari, Eye Shadow Quad in Tonya. Oh. My. Wow. To say I love it would be an understatement. To say that I’m obsessed with it would be more accurate. The colours in this palette are so beautiful and so autumnal (I’ll do my best not to overuse this word but I make no promises!) – the gorgeous coppery and golden hues, gently shimmering, the matte tones to complement them. It’s everything I could’ve asked for in an autumn eye shadow quad. However, to make it even better the colours also very pigmented and easy to blend. Love it!

Lookfantastic, Unicorn Eye Shadow Brush. I love having unicorns in my life. Who doesn’t? So yes, this brush ticks the secret unicorn box that I wasn’t even aware existed in The Best Makeup Brush check list. Plus it’s really nice and soft. So that’s another box ticked.

Illamasqua, Mini Contouring Gel Sculpt in Silhouette. Right, you know I’m not on great terms with contouring. I’ve never yet had a successful attempt at it (not that I’ve given it that many goes to be honest) and seeing the dark brown colour of this stick didn’t fill me with any more confidence. However, I still gave it a go so I could be honest and fair with my review. Although my look was still far from perfect, I believe this is more due to my lack of practice rather than the product itself. In fact, it blended quite easily and didn’t look scary dark at all once I’d been blending for a bit. It’s got a very lightweight consistency that makes it a bit easier to use than any other contour sticks I’ve tried before. I guess I have no excuse not to practice more now. Oh, also, it smells nice.

Eve Lom, Cleanser and Muslin Cloth. Hnnnnnng. Another new favourite. I can definitely see why it’s been dubbed the world’s most desired cleanser. It cleanses beautifully without being harsh on my face which is great as it promises to fit all skin types and skin concerns. I really believe that it would! Plus I really love the smell of it.

Christophe Robin, Cleansing Volumizing Paste with Pure Rassoul Clay and Rose Extracts. I do believe that’s the longest product name I’ve come across so far. That aside, this is another one of my new favourites. I used it for the first time this morning and not knowing what to expect I scooped a little bit of it out and started lathering it in. I was NOT prepared for what happened next. It turned into such a huge amount of foam that I felt like I was wearing a helmet. So, obviously I used juuuust a little bit too much of it and will know better next time. However, it did volumise my hair. In hindsight I didn’t really think this through – do I really need more volume in my already overly thick hair? No, not really. But will I rock it when I unexpectedly do have a lot more volume in my hair? Oh yeah! Also, this too smells absolutely amazing.

Decleor, Hydra Floral Anti-Pollution Hydrating Gel-Cream. I’m running out of ways to describe everything in this box as I love almost all of it! This gel-cream included. It smells great and is really lightweight but so hydrating. It’s also enriched with Moringa Olifeira extract and Neroli essential oils to create a protective layer against pollution.

Holly’s Lollies, Lolly in Elderflower flavour. Yes, I had to check the booklet to confirm that it’s actually edible and not like a bath bubble stick or something of that sort. It turned out to be edible and yummy at that as far as lollies go. A nice little birthday surprise 🙂

The box also included a copy of Elle magazine and Lookfantastic’s own little booklet filled with nifty tips and articles as usual (it also included a recipe for carrot cake this time!).

Overall I have to say I absolutely love this box. The only thing that I’m a bit in two minds about is the contour stick and that only because I have very little experience with them. Everything else in this box has already found its way into my favourites. It’s also great value for money – the subscriptions start at £13 per month and the items in this box are worth over £72.

All in all I’m very excited to see what they’ve got for me next month!
