Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend and that you’ve not been mowed down by the flu like I have been. Enough of the icky stuff! (I know I didn’t really write anything icky, but I was thinking it so… enough.)
I only got my January Lookfantastic Beauty Box today, so it’s going to be more of a ‘first impressions’ type of thing, rather than me reviewing everything as I’ve not had a chance to try it all out yet.
This month’s theme is ‘Beauty forward‘ and Lookfantastic have put together a box to help us start the new year fresh and clean with carefully selected products, tips and new brands.
BALANCE ME, Congested Skin Serum (7ml). This face serum is 99% natural, super lightweight and supposed to give you flawless skin. It’s got a rather strong scent and I can’t really place it – as in, what it smells like. But it does remind me of something herbal. In any case I’m excited to try it out and report back to you!
KORRES, White Tea Fluid Gel Cleanser (16ml). You know I love everything from Korres (or at least I’m yet to find something that I’m not loving from them) so I’m pretty happy having received this in my box. I mean, the size could’ve been a bit more generous – I go through cleansers quite quickly. However I can’t remember having tried a gel cleanser before so it’s something new for me to try out!
MODELCO, 3D Lash Primer (3ml). My only experience with lash primer was about 10 years ago (wow, I’m old!) and it wasn’t that great. I remember layering it on before my mascara and then having like 4 clumps of (admittedly super long) lashes on each eye. It basically gave me the clumpiest spider leg lashes you can imagine. I hope this primer won’t make me relive that horrid experience. (I shall approach with apprehensive caution nevertheless.)
MONUSPA, Warming Ginger Bath & Body Oil (40ml). It smells verrrrry gingery. So if you don’t like ginger, you’re not going to like this. If you do like ginger, this could be for you. Apparently it’s really good to use after workout to ease muscle pain. I might try it out… You know, if I ever do a workout again. Which I should be doing a few times a week now… Uhh, moving on! (By the way, be wary of leakage! The bottle leaked a bit for me so I’d recommend keeping it upright.)
ESPA, Pink Hair & Scalp Mud (30ml). Well, it’s pink. And I guess you could call it muddy. Although it’s a bit too pretty to be ‘mud’. Anyway, it says to apply this to scalp and damp hair, leave it for 20 minutes (or overnight if you’re looking for some extra magic), rinse thoroughly and condition as usual. Sounds simple enough. I don’t think I’ve ever really tried leaving hair masks in overnight. How does this work? I know you can sleep with a shower cap, but won’t it be uncomfortable? Hmm, let me know what secret tips and tricks you’ve got for this.
ERNO LASZLO TONERS, Light Controlling Lotion (15ml). So, funny thing – I nearly binned this with the wrapping, not realising it was hidden in all the tissue paper. I only noticed that I was supposed to have it in my box when I saw it in the booklet. (That’s also why it’s not in the group photo.) Anyway, it’s a light controlling lotion for acne, oily skin and enlarged pores. It’s supposed to gently exfoliate whilst soothing your skin. Sounds like it should be right up my alley. It’s quite a small sample size again, but we’ll see how long it lasts. It could be super potent in which case I wouldn’t need to use much. Also, at first sniff I’m actually not at all keen on the smell of it. It’s extremely strong and not that pleasant. Maybe it’s my flu/cold messing up my sense of smell, but at the moment I’d say I’m not that excited to put it on my face.
That’s it! At first sight, I liked this box, BUT I think the sample sizes could’ve been bigger and I would’ve liked to see some more makeup products. I think this is the first Lookfantastic box in a while that I’m not totally in love with. I’m not going to give it my final verdict yet though, as I’ve not tried most of the products from this box – they could well surprise me.
I’m still excited to see what they’re bringing out in February this year and I can’t wait to share it all with you!
