Beauty, Beauty Boxes

Lookfantastic March 2018

Hi everyone! It’s been a while and a LOT has happened since I last wrote, but I’ll get to all that in one of my next posts. For now I can’t go any longer without sharing my March Lookfantastic Beauty Box with you! (For those of you who are unfamiliar with what that is – it’s a monthly subscription box starting from £13 per month. This will get you a box of full and sample sized beauty and skincare goodies, guaranteed to be worth at least £40.)

Tadaaaaaah! It’s nearly the end of the month, so I’m sure that most of you will already have received your own boxes and thus this doesn’t count as a spoiler. Not that I’ve really cared about spoilers before… Uhmm, I’ll just get to the goodies.

Skinchemists – Rose Quartz Lip Plump (8ml). I like this as a subtle lip gloss, but I noticed no plumping effect what so ever. Absolutely nothing. Not even a tingle. I also struggled to get a decent amount of it on the applicator so have to go back in several times to get it to feel like I’ve actually got something on my lips. The pepperminty smell is nice though. And the packaging is gorgeous. So… overall a bit underwhelming. Good to throw in my bag/pocket to apply throughout the day for that little something extra though.

Doucce – Freematic Eye Shadow Duo in 78 Kate & 81 Tenley (1.4g each). Beautiful colours and I love the little lattice pattern they’ve got going on. They’re quite shimmery (comes down to personal taste whether you count that as a pro or con) but blend well enough and are overall easy to work with. The only downside for me with these two is that even though they’ve got magnetic backs so you can plop them in any one of those customisable palettes makeup that you can get, I actually don’t have one. So I’m just doing my best trying not to lose them and/or have them spill everywhere causing an early makeupocalypse.

Skimono – Foot Mask (16ml). I absolutely looooove foot masks, but I can’t really tell the difference between them. As in, I probably couldn’t tell whether this foot mask cost £50 or £5. So far all of the ones that I’ve tried have been really nice. Including this one. I loved popping these on and climbing to bed to read a book. That’s what I call quality me-time.

Omorovicza – Balancing Moisturiser (30ml). I used this once before going back to my current moisturiser. I just can’t have five different ones on the go at the same time, it drives me insane. From that one time that I did use it, I liked it. It smells… herbal, I think. At least it reminds of some herb(s). It’s very lightweight and absorbs quickly. Oh, it’s also supposed to minimise pores and help diffuse light when used as a primer under makeup, which means it’s also supposed to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Sounds promising!

Renu – Advanced Anti-Ageing Flash Relax Mask (30ml). A face mask that doesn’t make me look like I’m mouldy or coming down with a plague of sorts. It applies and looks like like face gel (is that a thing?), you can’t see it on your skin and can’t really feel it either. So I guess if heavier face masks aren’t your thing but you’d like to have a little pamper every now and then, this would be a great option.

Stylondon – Oval Face Brush. Again I haven’t actually tried this brush out yet properly, so I’m not going to give my opinion on it for now. I’ll just say that even though it’s really dense (like all oval brushes), it’s also soft (unlike some oval brushes…), which I like. I guess I’ve not really used it because I’m not too sure what to use it for. I already have brushes that I like for most of my things and for me it’s a bit of an awkward size – too big for anything precise but too small to be effective for larger areas. We’ll see.

That’s the lot! I’d say it was a decent effort. Although my first impression of it was way more ‘WOOHOOO YAAAY!’ than my final verdict. Funny how that happens. Boring looking boxes can turn out to be super exciting and great looking ones can be a bit underwhelming. Who knows, maybe I’ll change my mind again once I’ve used everything a bit more.

In any case I’m looking forward to seeing what they come out with next month!
