May Glossybox

Hi everyone! Hope you’ve had a good month, week, day, morning. All of it. I’ve been pretty busy over the past few weeks myself. Visiting my family, workworkwork, redecorating, doing some (uh, dare I say it?) soul searching. Let’s leave it at that for now and dive into this post instead.

I got my hands on May Glossybox just over a week ago when I got back from visiting my family and I’ve taken some time to try out everything in it. It took a bit longer than I’d anticipated with everything else I was doing so I even debated not sharing this month’s box at all – I mean, you’ve probably already seen it everywhere anyway. But then I couldn’t resist letting you know what I think of it and hey, better late than never, right?

Oh, one more thing before I dive into it all – this month Glossybox partnered with Remington and hid 50 golden tickets in subscribers boxes which I wasn’t aware of when I was opening mine. I’ll paint you a picture – I’d just gotten back home, I’d been travelling all day long and I’d only had a couple of hours of sleep the night before. I was exhausted and emotional. I thought just the thing to cheer me up would be opening my Glossybox and seeing what surprises it’s got for me this month. I lifted the lid of the box and pulled on the black ribbon tying everything together before digging into the pretty tissue paper hiding all the goodies. There were a couple of leaflets on top, including a big golden one. ‘Oh, cool, it’s like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I wonder what it’s for?’ I turned it over and read what it said. You have won a Remington Curl & Straight Confidence. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I had to ask my husband to check if this was real. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d won anything like this. So, on top of my bone crushing exhaustion and already overly emotional state I discovered that I was one of the lucky 50 people to find a golden ticket in their box. That tipped me right over the edge so the next thing I knew, I was sobbing away. Pretty dramatic, right? I must say, after the overload of everything that day, I slept like a log.

Glossybox May 2019

Dr. Jart + Shake & Shot Rubber Firming Mask (50g RRP £8)

Very interesting formula. Innovative shaker style. Worked for me!

Beauty Kitchen Natruline Natural 0% Petroleum Lip Treatment (20g RRP £2.99)

100% natural ingredients. 100% recyclable packaging. Lusciously soft lips.

Barry M Cosmetics Chisel Cheeks Contour Cream Kit (14.5g RRP £7.99)

Requires some practice. Natural looking finish. Will try again.

Nailberry Love Me Tender Nail Polish (15ml RRP £14.50)

Love the colour. Love the packaging. Not for me.*

Mudmasky Aftermask Vitamin Serum (30ml RRP £43)

My favourite item. Addition to skincare. Feel the difference.

*I said the nail polish is not for me because I use almost exclusively gel polish these days. I did try the Nailberry one but I bumped and dented it within 10 minutes. I know it’s me and not the nail polish though, because I do and have done this with every single normal polish I’ve ever used.

So, what did I think of this box? Honestly, I have such mixed feelings about it. I loved the face mask (even though the face on the lid creeps me out), the serum and lip balm, but not so keen on the nail polish and contour palette.

At the end of the day I think it’s the golden ticket that sways my opinion about it the most. It’s not every day you get to live the dream of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Except no chocolate was involved.

In other words? It’s an overall Yay! from me and I’m looking forward to the next one.
