My sister and I have a thing where whenever we finish a perfume or a beauty or skincare or hair care product or anything like that, we send each other a picture of it and say if we liked it or not. For some reason (probably because I wanted to write about it to be honest), I’ve saved most of the empties I’ve finished over the past year and a bit. And I think if I keep collecting them for any longer it could be considered a problem. In my head. For keeping empty packages for years on end. For no other reason than to maybe write about them in my diary one day. Yeah, that would be weird. Ahem.
Sooooo let’s just nip this in the bud and get my thoughts out there. (By the way, I tried to sort them into categories as much as I could but… Well, let’s see how it goes.)
Pretty, Moisturising Lip Balm in Citrus (4.3g)
I got this from an online shop as a spur of the moment add on when buying clothes. It came in a twin pack and it’s the first twisting lip balm I’ve used up in years. It does in fact smell strongly of citrus and it was moisturising as promised. Would recommend.
Oriflame, Tender Care Protecting Balm in Rose (15ml)
It took me a loooong time to finish this one. It’s super moisturising and left my lips really soft with no stickiness. The only downside is the packaging. Having to scoop it out with your finger isn’t always the most hygienic of application methods. Actually, I wasn’t too keen on the rose scent either. So no, I personally wouldn’t repurchase this.
Boots, Hand & Nail Cream in Intensive for Very Dry Skin (75ml, £1.49)
I remember picking this up at an airport when I’d forgotten to bring a hand cream with me. And I must say, even though it’s probably the most boring thing that I’ve ever used, it does what it says on the tub. There’s absolutely no fragrance (I can’t wrap my head around it actually – how can it smell of NOTHING?), it’s intensely moisturising and doesn’t leave your hands sticky. Yes, I would recommend it.
PS…, Hand Cream in Creme Brule with Shea Butter & Vitamin E (30ml, £1)
I got this little guy from Primark a while ago when once again I found myself with dry hands and no hand cream in that moment. There were no testers to smell it first so when I opened it after buying it, the scent was a bit too strong and sickly sweet for me so I didn’t enjoy using it that much (plus I didn’t really get the creme brule smell in it…). Other than that, it didn’t leave any sticky feeling or anything like that so it’s not the worst thing I’ve ever used. Purely because of the scent not being for me, I wouldn’t buy this again. (Would try other scents though!)
Polaar, The Genuine Lapland Hand Cream with 3 Arctic Berries (25ml)
I got this in one of my beauty boxes and I love it. Honestly one of my most favourite hand creams ever. It smells like fresh winter berries and is intensely moisturising even in small amounts. 100% would recommend.
My Little Beauty, Hand Cream in Happy Hand (50ml)
Another winner. I got this one in the last or second to last My Little Beauty Box just before they stopped doing them, so I don’t actually know if you can get this cream anymore. It’s got a fresh scent that I can’t put my finger on. Like some sort of a fruit or berries. In any case I love it. Again there’s no residual stickiness and it sinks in really fast. Would recommend.
Cath Kidston, Hand Cream in Rose (50ml)
This one I got in a gift set. And it may well be the first synthetic rose scent I actually tolerate. I wasn’t too keen on this one to begin with but it kind of grew on me and I quite liked it by the time I finished it. However, because there are so many hand creams that I like more than this one, I wouldn’t personally buy this again.
I’m going to have to do this as a series… Eh, we’ll see how it goes. But I am very glad to have finally had the closure I needed with this lot so I can get rid of them now.
I was just thinking, I might change things up formatting wise to get through them a bit quicker… Or maybe not. I think they all deserve their moment. Although I might be here a while if I do that. I guess I better get comfortable!
