When inspiration strikes, you have to go for it. It was in the middle of the night, I had no lights on except for the fairy lights and I thought to myself, wow, that actually looks quite nice! I took a few sets of pictures with different cameras and camera settings plus a few different angles and props, but I must say I’m quite happy with how the pictures eventually turned out.
Also, I haven’t edited them at all and the lighting you see on this photo here is all I used – just fairy lights in a pretty much pitch black room. Keeping all that in mind – I need to take my hat off to Pixel 4XL’s night mode! Absolutely amazing camera. (You’ll see when you get to the actual beauty box pictures.) On that note, enough of me blabbering, let’s get to it.
Glossybox April 2020
Avant Skincare, Gentle Rose Beautifying Face Exfoliant (50ml, £92)
True to its name it’s a very gentle micropolish with a gorgeous fragrance that reminds me very strongly of Miller Harris’ perfume Rose Silence which is one of my all time favourite scents. However, for the life of me I can’t figure out why this little guy would cost £92. I don’t want to be rude so I’m going to leave it at that – it’s a very nice exfoliant but I wouldn’t repurchase it at that price.
Nails.Inc, Blossom Kisses Nail Polish (14ml, £11)
It’s a very pretty cool toned dusky pink. As with any nail polish you do need a proper base and top coat for it to stay on your nails. But because I use gel nail polishes 99% of the time (the kind you cure with an LED lamp), I didn’t have either of those at hand. I tried to make it work with just the colour for testing purposes but it would not stop denting and rubbing off even the next day. And the day after that. And the day after that… You get the point. I do really like the colour though and may consider getting a nice base and top coat polishes to give it a proper go. We’ll see…
Rituals Cosmetics, The Ritual of Sakura Shower Scrub (70ml mini, £4.60)
I like this a lot. You know I love anything from Rituals, even I’m sick of hearing how much I love that brand. This is a gorgeous micropolish with a really clean flowery scent. It sort of melts whilst gently exfoliating and I just… Yes, I would buy this again.
SportFX, Lip Balm in Coconut (8g, £4.99)
Summer is coming and I’m grateful for anything and everything with SPF in it, especially if it’s going to be as hot and sunny as last year. This is a nice lip balm, a bit of an awkward shape but I do prefer it to completely round shaped ones. Also, I think it’s an SPF thing, but it does taste a bit funny. All the other SPF lip balms I’ve ever had have had that same kind of a weird taste/smell to them. Go figure…
Hask, Deep Conditioner with Rose Oil & Peach (50ml, £2.49)
Another brand that I absolutely love. Beautiful flowery fruity scent and great results with this particular mask. Would buy again in a different scent as I want to try ALL the options.
I started to lose it a bit by the end of the post so I’m sorry if it’s a bit rambling. For whatever reason I was struggling to formulate sentences and type words in any meaningful ways today. But I did it! And about time as I received my May Glossybox yesterday. Still playing catch up but getting closer and closer.
P.S It does look like my Lookfantastic beauty box subscription has ran out and I have decided not to resubscribe at the moment.
