Empty Thoughts Part III

This is a series of posts where I reflect on beauty, skincare, makeup, etc products that I used up in 2019. You can read my previous entries here – Empty Thoughts Part I and Empty Thoughts Part II.

”My sister and I have a thing where whenever we finish a perfume or a beauty or skincare or hair care product or anything like that, we send each other a picture of it and say if we liked it or not. For some reason (probably because I wanted to write about it to be honest), I’ve saved most of the empties I’ve finished over the past year and a bit. And I think if I keep collecting them for any longer it could be considered a problem. In my head. For keeping empty packages for years on end. For no other reason than to maybe write about them in my diary one day. Yeah, that would be weird. Ahem.

Sooooo let’s just nip this in the bud and get my thoughts out there. (By the way, I tried to sort them into categories as much as I could but… Well, let’s see how it goes.)

Hair Products

Wella Professionals, LuxeOil Keratin Protection Shine Spray (51.7g, £3.99*)

First of all let me just tell you that this is my most favourite hair product (line) of all time. *Secondly, I purchased this myself from TK Maxx which is known for its huge discounts so the fact that I managed to grab this little guy for that cheap unfortunately doesn’t mean it’s always this affordable (but even at full price it’s well worth it. Although I think they may have re-branded it).

Pros: It smells absolutely divine, doesn’t weigh my hair down, gives it positively blinding shine and makes it look so healthy and gorgeous.

Cons: I ran out of it.

Percy & Reed, Volumising No Oil Oil (30ml, £7.50*)

Another little winner!

Pros: Has a really refreshing herbal/foresty scent, doesn’t leave my hair greasy but makes it feel nourished and healthy.

Cons: None.

*I got this price from https://www.percyandreed.com/ where the 60ml bottle is £15

Show Beauty, Riche Grooming Balm (150ml, £24.50*)

Pros: Beautiful bottle design, soft sweet scent, left my hair feeling very hydrated.

Cons: It didn’t leave my hair ‘weightless’, so if that’s what you’re after maybe go for something more lightweight. But personally I quite liked the feeling it did give – healthy and thick. (It reminds me of a night more than a decade ago when I was in bar and this girl with gorgeous long blonde hair flicked it in my face whilst dancing and her hair felt really ‘heavy’ and healthy… I do remember the weirdest things at times.)

*This is the sale price on https://www.thefragranceshop.co.uk/ website at the time of me writing this

Alterna, Caviar CC Cream 10-in-1 Leave-In Hair Perfector (25ml, £6.75*)

Pros: Promises to perfect hair in 10 different ways and I can confirm it did do at least half of what it said it would, including moisturising, giving it shine, smoothness and manageability as well as (hopefully) heat protection.

Cons: Has a very specific scent that took a while to get used to.

*This is on sale at https://www.beautyflash.co.uk/ website – 100ml for £27 – at the time of me writing this

Number 4, Jour d’automne Sugar Texturising Spray (30ml)

Pros: Worked wonders on my naturally wavy hair, giving it definition and light hold whilst also smoothing any frizz. Plus it smells gorgeously fresh and ‘beachy’.

Cons: None. (Except that I can’t find it for sale anywhere anymore…)

Fudge Urban, Feel The Heat Protection Spray (150ml)

Pros: Quite fine misting spray, very easy to apply all over for thorough heat protection.

Cons: Left my hair ever so slightly sticky and stiff feeling. (It was most likely me going overboard with it though that caused it rather than the product itself so take it with a grain of salt)

Batiste, Dry Shampoo & Hydrate (50ml, £0.80*)

Pros: The best dry shampoo I’ve ever used. It smells so fresh and didn’t leave my hair feeling at all powdery – it actually felt as if I’d just washed my hair. Amazing.

Cons: Wish I’d gotten a full-sized one!

*It’s on sale at https://www.boots.com/ at £3.19 for 200ml at the time of me writing this post

Batiste, Floral & Flirty Blush Dry Shampoo (200ml, £2.24*)

Pros: A nice reliable dry shampoo. Smells all summery and flowery, works to give my hair an extra day or two between washes.

Cons: Can leave hair a bit dull looking if you go overboard with it.

*This is the sale price on https://www.boots.com/ at the time of me writing this post

That’s it for this lot. I can now thank them all and let them go. Also, you can bet your butt I’m about to order more of that amazing hydrate dry shampoo and my Wella hair oil.

I’ll see you with more empty thoughts soon!
