Books, My life

Work it!

I keep writing and then deleting everything and starting all over again. It’s like I can’t even decide what is going on in my head so how on earth am I supposed to decide what goes on here? I think I’ll just do a quick ‘Hi, that’s what I’ve been up to lately!’ post. Just catching up, you know.

I finished reading a book – Cry Baby by David Jackson. That’s 16/30 now. Reading seems to be the only thing that I always really want to do, no matter what’s going on in my life or head (yes, I do realise I’m talking about my head like it’s a whole other world and you know what? It really is. Half the time even I can’t find my way around there). It was the first book in a while that I wasn’t actually that keen on, but I’m glad I read it. I’ll tell you more about it in my next month’s book post.

I also finished watching a Netflix original series 13 Reasons Why. Another thing that I wasn’t actually keen on. It’s not even that it made me uncomfortable or anything, in fact it didn’t at all – should I be worried? – I just felt really, really annoyed throughout watching it. I felt that the main character was entitled, demanding and just really annoying and … well, a typical teenager, I guess? I know because I’ve been there, seen it and done that. So yeah, didn’t like it.

On a more positive note, I talked to someone recently about some things that are going on – I could probably be even more cryptic if I REALLY tried, right? – and for the first time in about a month or so I feel like there’s change for the better again. I have some realistic plans in place again and it’s helped me a lot. So yes, talking helps. Talk to people. Talk to your friends, your family, your doctor, your cat or pet rock. It really does help. Don’t keep it bottled up.

What else? Oh, yes, I’ve been doing my interior design course work. I’m over half way through and have really enjoyed my studies so far, but this unit is really threatening to do me in. It’s twice as long and requires twice as many reports and assignments. That’s where you picture me sliding off my chair into a puddle and just melt out of existence. I still think I should do a little series on it all. What do you think?

To keep on track with my positive life changes and everything, I’ve also been doing my little 30 day fitness challenge. It’s a free app, called just that – 30 days fitness challenge – every day it reminds me to do my little exercises and yes, sometimes I skip a day and do two days worth the next day and yes, there are official rest days in there, too. It’s nice and simple little things like some jumping jacks, planks, mountain climbers, etc. Starts off quite easy, too, and then gets gradually harder. It’s a good way to keep me a bit more active though. Oh, I’m on day 21/30. Can’t believe I’ve actually managed to keep it going for so long. Quite proud of myself actually.

Anyway, I think that’s us caught up, yeah? Great, I’ll see you next time! Time to go to bed and get all rested and stuff. I think that’s how it’s supposed to go. I still haven’t worked out all the finer details – like, sometimes I seem to wake up and still be tired. What’s up with that? Hmpfh.

My life

What a week!

You may have noticed I’ve been absent for quite a while now. Here’s why and a quick catch up. I’ll try to keep it brief but you know how I’m prone to rambling. I’ll do my best 🙂

3/5

Studies. Oh. My. Studies. I was trying my absolute hardest to finish my course assignments on time and I managed it! I actually finished and submitted everything. I was quite happy with my work at the time but haven’t had any feedback yet, so we’ll see how I did.

4/5

World’s longest To Do list before our flight on Friday. It included everything from spring cleaning the whole house to doing my nails. Aaaaaand we managed it. I actually even did my nails. Toes as well as fingers. I think it’s pretty impressive. It did mean that I only got to bed after midnight which left me with about 4h of sleep before getting up to go to airport but hey, at least I know that I don’t have a pile of washing waiting for me and my nails still look alright as well.

Travelling. A lot of travelling. It didn’t actually even feel that long, but somehow it took us from the morning to the late hours of the evening. It was very chilled though which was great. Maybe that’s why it didn’t feel too bad? I like travelling with a companion – it’s great being able to leave my bags with someone when I go to the toilet. It’s so annoying having to drag them in those tiny little cubicles when I’m travelling alone. So yeah, that’s one of the main reasons why I like travelling with someone. Also, on our way to the airport we saw a lot of bunnies. I managed to get this marvellous pictures with 3 bunnies on it at the same time. And next to our gate there was a flight to Abu Dhabi. Does anyone else remember how Garfield was always sending Nermal there?

ALSO, we tried some really great pastries at Frankfurt airport.

The view was pretty as always…

And when we got to our destination, we made a little stop by the lake to look at the beauuuuuutiful lights on the lake. They slowly change colours and especially on such a calm clear night it was just perfect.

My little monster’s birthday. For that we went to a spa/water park. It was ahmaaaazinnnnng. Before we went there I had an appointment with my hairdresser where she showed my sister how to do my hair for my wedding. Looking forward to it! Anyway, water park. It was soooo much fun! They have a big pool with lots of different areas with different bits, like hydrotherapy jets, water bar, whirlpool thing and so on. They also had quite a few awesome saunas and our room for the night was brilliant, too. Needless to say my little monster enjoyed it very much.

Some more water park time before check out. Then we went to my parents country place, did target shooting and BBQd some meat. Hmm, those two were not related haha. No animals were harmed during our target shooting! Even most of the target circles made it (almost) unharmed as well. (Mind you, it was quite far away and the target sheet is very small.) In any case it was a lot of fun!

I got my wedding shoes! I bought the first ones I saw. We did walk around the shopping centre to see if there’s any others I like more but there weren’t. Very happy with that! Also travelled across the country (thank you sis for driving us!) again to do some more wedding stuff. Stayed with my nan that night.

9/5

So. Much. Wedding. Stuff. Met with all the different people who do different things (catering, venue, florist, register office, etc). It was such a busy day. We did however have time to stop for some pretty flower pictures.

And pictures of Eiffel Tower. Funny, it looks much smaller in person.

Pretty sea!

After that my dear sister drove us across half the country again to our hotel where we were staying for the night. In the hotel I also did our grocery shopping for the next day (online food shopping all the way!) and watched the Eurovision Semi Finals (I didn’t like any of the songs really). Oh, we also bought a couple of really cool big cups.

More travelling. Home now though. Time to flop as back to work again tomorrow! This tiredness better clear by then, that’s all I’m saying. Exhausted… Absolutely drained. Here, have some more pretty pictures I took on the plane.

Oh, I also came home to this…

So expect to see a post about it in the near future (some time this week, I hope!).

Right, I think that’s us caught up? I’ll go sleep now. Much needed. Bllllrrrrggggggghhhhh…

Interior design, My life

Destination procrastination!

Population – probably a LOT of people, including Yours Truly. Sooooooo, I’m supposed to be doing my course work but instead I’ve decided to research minion gifs so I’d have one for every possible situation. So now when you message me, you’re probably going to receive a minion gif in response. And why not? Minions are great.

Alright, alright, I’ll go get back to work. No need to be cross with me. After all, I got a lot done yesterday and if I do a little bit tonight and a little bit tomorrow then I’ll be done. Whoop! That’ll be me another step closer to my diploma.

You know, if a year ago you’d have told me that I’d be working on getting a diploma in interior design this year, I’d have thought you’ve lost your marbles. It just goes to show – you never know what lies ahead. I think that in a year I’ll probably be working on something equally bonkers.

Will I be writing a book? Mastering the secrets of the violin? Flying off to some distant country for a couple of weeks? Cuddling up on the couch with Mr Mischief? Everything’s possible if you believe and work for it.

That’s the catch, I think. You actually have to do something to achieve these things. Just sitting on my bum and dreaming about it didn’t seem to work too well for me…

Yes, I’ve just seen what I wrote there. Work. Blergh. I guess I’ll try to go and be productive now.

Just so you know, I blame you if I actually get something done now. Influencing my subconscious to get me back on track. Hmpfh, I say!
